Interesting Facts About The Textile Industry

By Joe Goertz

Over the years the textile industry has grown by leaps and bounds as the clothing designers of the world send out more and more styles that the public demands. With this comes a high demand for textiles in many forms. The overall feel from the textile market is one that will never die. As long as clothes are manufactured and we are concerned with our personal style there will be a market for textiles.

The years have been very kind to textiles as far as making it easier to make the products. While the old days featured scores of people sitting at looms weaving tiny fibers together in the right order to make a piece of cloth, the new ways have abandoned this style and moved to the automation factor. This is one of the cases where automation has worked well as the industry still requires human operators for their machines but the whole process is much faster. This comes on the heels of the fact that it takes a fair amount of time to make a certain textile even with the new machines.

The main machine in a textile factory is the loom. This machine is the life blood of any factory that creates such products. Much like the looms of the past, the new looms take hundreds of tiny fibers and weave them into one to make a flat piece of cloth. In the days past this was achieved one strand at a time, woven through the others. With the new looms the strands are woven hundreds at a time to make the process fast and very efficient.

The problem with the textile machines is the fact that some of the textiles that need to be created are very colorful and very difficult. This requires the loom operators to set up the loom to make sure that every strand goes where it is supposed to go. This creates issues with the time constraints placed on many of the orders. The clothing manufacturers demand a fast turnaround time so they can get the clothing in the stores and start turning a profit. For the most part the textile companies will run twenty four hours a day to make sure that they can meet the demand.

There is also the dying machines that need to be taken care of. Some of the textiles that are created require special dyes in a large variety of colors. This means that the basic cloth will need to run through the dye, then set up to dry and then run through again to make sure that the color is just right. There are some fabrics that require multiply dying sessions for the proper look.

Some of the finest clothing is made from mass produced textiles that come from these automated factories. Even with the new machines there are some textiles that can not be made by the machine. Most of the factories still employ loom workers to create the one of kind fabrics that their customers demand.
